Position Overview
The Phlebotomist is responsible for creating an atmosphere of competency, trust, and confidence working with patients in draw station facilities operated for the laboratory; safely collecting samples following protocols in place including assurance of appropriate elements on written provider orders; and ensuring integrity / stability of specimen(s) returning to laboratory for testing.
Office Location: Korea-Town, Los Angeles
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for assisting with every aspect of patients including but not limited to: blood draw, collecting urine sample, scheduling, confirmations, logistics, blood draw issues, follow up, etc.
• Collect and organize records, maintain paper or electronic charts and all patients/blood draw/program/patient’s’ information and data
• Record data in the patient's chart including visit documentation, medical questions, updates, follow up, etc.
• Manage multiple patient/doctor’s office calls, questions, follow up, labs, etc
• Visit check in and out for all patients
• Serve as liaison between doctors, staff, outside facility and patients.
• Ensure visitor has the best experience possible from beginning to end, great follow up from their visits and get everything they need
• Performing blood draws following company specimen collection SOP.
• Ensuring order of draw and tube selection meet requirements; verify patient and label specimen following company SOP.
• Establishing rapport with patients, explaining procedures, installing calm, putting patients at ease, and drawing sample(s).
• Following all health and safety standards, which include required PPE and Hazardous Waste protocols.
• Ensuring integrity of specimen and stability, returning items to laboratory or courier following established protocol for accurate, timely results.
• Following company procedures ensuring all written orders are complete and legible prior to drawing patient(s).
Qualifications
• Minimum of two to three years’ as phlebotomist.
• State phlebotomy license must be maintained via continuous education and license renewed timely.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures, medical terminology, and Clinical Lab test names.
• Skill in reading and writing English to understand technical protocols/procedures and to write accurate patient data information.
• Demonstrated phlebotomy experience with adults and children in a doctor’s office or medical clinic setting.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Korean
• Strong time management skills; ability to communicate about and implement efficiencies;
• Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred to experience working at a medical institution (hospital/clinic/laboratory, etc.)
• Education: Minimum High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Certified Phlebotomy Tech License.
• Language: Korean & English
Salary Range: $21/hour to $27/hour
